Introducing Configurability into Scenario-Based Specification of Business Processes

چکیده
Process model configuration is an approach to model highly similar variants of a process. In a configurable process model, events can be hidden or blocked to characterize variants. However, it may be difficult to model large processes consisting of many interacting units. To this end, one may use scenario-based specification, specifying the process in comprehensible, reoccurring parts that describe interactional behavior. In this paper, we take a look at how configurability and scenario-based specification could be merged in one approach. We particularly focus on the impact of permitting events in scenarios to be hidden or blocked.

Residuals based process capability indices for two-stage processes
The manufacturing operations often involve multistage processes where the process capability of each stage is affected by the process capability of its precedent processes. This property is known as the cascade property. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the process capability of the second stage of two-stage process while the cascade property impact is removed using residuals analysis. ...
متن کاملSynthesis of Behavioral Models from Scenarios
Scenario-based specifications such as Message Sequence Charts (MSCs) are useful as part of a requirements specification. A scenario is a partial story, describing how system components, the environment, and users work concurrently and interact in order to provide system level functionality. Scenarios need to be combined to provide a more complete description of system behavior. Consequently, sc...
متن کاملB2B Protocol Specification by Example Using WSDL and ebXML
The automation of business processes spanning organizations requires the formal specification of so-called B2B protocols, which define the interfaces of cooperating business software systems thereby enabling interoperability and loose coupling. Currently, there are two main approaches proposed for the specification of B2B protocols, the WSDLbased approach supporting Web Service languages, and t...
متن کاملAn Access-Control Framework for WS-BPEL
abstraCt Business processes, the next-generation workflows, have attracted considerable research interest in the last 15 years. More recently, several XML-based languages have been proposed for specifying and orchestrating business processes, resulting in the WS-BPEL language. Even if WS-BPEL has been developed to specify automated business processes that orchestrate activities of multiple Web ...
متن کاملConfigurable Declare: Designing Customisable Flexible Models
Declarative languages are becoming more popular for modelling business processes with a high degree of variability. Unlike procedural languages, where the models define what is to be done, a declarative model specifies what behaviour is not allowed, using constraints on process events. In this paper, we study how to support configurability in such a declarative setting. We take Declare as an ex...
